Silverlight for Troubleshooting Missing Video Device in Lync? Whaaaaat?

OK, first off, I am almost sorry to see Silverlight going away. It is an interesting product, which brings me to this blog post.

Today, I was working with a client trying to troubleshoot another video issue. As with a previous post about troubleshooting video issues with Lync 2010, this is pretty much along those lines. The issue is that I tried everything else in my earlier blog post.

In this case, he could use Video conferencing when he was using a Communicator 2007 R2 client, but was not able to use Video conferencing when using a Lync 2010 client.

We were just about to install some software for the camera to make sure it was working properly on the computer that he had installed the Lync 2010 client, and Silverlight came to the rescue.

Did you know that Silverlight can be used to test/configure audio and video? I didn’t until we stumbled on this:
